BibliotrophyGone to the Edge

by J. Bayer

Gone to the edge, she'll be free

A few steps nigher to eternity

Drooping clouds of neutral gray

Indifferent sky, choleric day

Bless’d release from his decree

For freedom she did often plea

But howling mad he’d disagree

A lonely leap, the only way

Gone to the edge

He tortured her, not suddenly

But slowly and by close degree

Finally then she could not stay

Open window, drapes at play

Gone to the edge
