Finding Myself

Standing at the border
looking on with envy
watching the calmness before me,
wanting to be part of,
afraid of letting in,
the picture moves
in unison with the breeze,
I take a step closer
unsure of my needs,
trembling, with uncertainty,
I forego my outer shroud,
going forth as I came
no longer feeling afraid,
luxuriating, in the softness
as it cools my feverish skin,
stretching taut and tired limbs,
allowing, the softness to seep in,
soothing the storm,
deep within.
