Wa alaikum assalaam!

I always get an unreasonable kick out of it when someone says something that shows they know something about Arabic or Arab cultures -- how cool! Between you and Val, you two are making my day today -- the Apocalypse may be coming, but right now I don't care: I'm having a good day today!

Now we've got Gerry's follow-up to his other short story Tommy and the Tin. (A story for remembrance day)

Tommy's Funeral

Sure, it wasn't unexpected, but I remember feeling that way at my father's funeral too -- people all came out of the woodwork, and I was thinking, "Where were you when he was in the hospital?"

So long ago it hardly matters now.

You never know how loved you are 'till you're dead. I guess that's why they say it takes three days to get to Heaven or whichever your going. Gives you a chance to hear what they thought about you.

Bint-Harry.
We are all such a funny lot, I suppose funerals are difficult for most people.
Maybe guilty conscience kicks in, and elevates the status of the deceased somewhat. I think it may be difficult to be hypocritical at a funeral.
I have been perfect of course [smilie=001_rolleyes.gif] But I don't want to hang around for those three days [smilie=001_unsure.gif] I would hate to hear what others might think [smilie=closedeyes.gif]

Here's Gerry having a bit of fun:

Beware Anadiplosis (it bites)

I had to look up the word 'Anadiplosis' because I'd never heard it before! That's the third thing I've learned today...

Bint--well this seems to have died, I didn't think it was that bad [smilie=001_smile.gif] Just needed a bit of thought or Mr Googles help.
It is good to hear, that like me, you are still learning [smilie=biggrin.gif]

See if you can solve the riddle -- Gerry's thrown down the gauntlet!

Gerry's submitted a new one about old times:

Dolly Blue---and things!

Vivid images -- you can practically hear the scrubbing!

Here's Gerry's poem to explain his avatar:

Mr Domiciliary Heliospere

This is not his entry into the "What does your avatar say about you?" contest because this poem was published before, but this is Gerry's contribution in the spirit of the comp to explain his avatar. Make a comment and let him know what you think!
