 llyn bochlwyd

ice ages scoured me out of the mountain
glaciers pulled rocks and earth from my depths

time passed
I waited
trees grew
were felled
sheep munched
cropped herbs short
men called me ‘cwm’
while the misty rain fell and filled me

they come and they go
but one stood and gazed upon his reflection
mirrored and perfect within my depths
he dived, he drowned, he’s gone

another one saw him
I watched her and knew

and the rain never stopped her
from running as high as the wind could go
where it still whistles round castell y gwynt

she waits there alone in hope for her love
not lost
but gone before
