Submission Guidelines

Please read ALL of the following Submission Guidelines completely and adhere to the guidelines. These guidelines are necessary to maintain the degree of professionalism we promise our Readers and Authors. Failure to comply may result in a delay in acceptance or outright rejection.

The works published on this main site do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the editors or the general or individual membership of BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG.

Submission Guidelines Basics

  1. In order to submit your work for publication on BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG you must register for membership our affiliated writer's forum, BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG/FORUM/INDEX.PHP, (registration is free) and participate in the forum by posting at least 25 times which will automatically promote you from a "new member" to an "established member."
  2. There is NO FEE for submission.
  3. If we select your submission for publication, you grant us Non-exclusive First Internet Publishing Rights and Non-exclusive Archival Rights. At the time of publication, all other rights revert to the author.
  4. Authors submitting works to BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG for approval will not be compensated in any way for the writing or submitting of any text.
  5. Authors are only permitted to submit one title to one category at a time. Wait for an acceptance or rejection reply to your submission before submitting again.
  6. All works submitted by you must be written/authored by you. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Plagiarists will be banned without recourse. Anyone guilty of copyright infringement will have their BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG account closed, and all the plagiarist's texts will be removed from the directory.
  7. BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG is looking for QUALITY works. Our goal is to promote works by new or emerging writers. Works with excessive grammatical or spelling errors will be rejected. Works will be edited by our editors before posting is finalized. Formatting guidelines are covered below.
  8. All works published on BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG are considered "published" under a Creative Commons Licence (Attribution Non-Commercial (CC BY-NC)). Please consider this before submitting work for publication on BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG -- you may wish to submit the same work to another venue later, but some markets will not accept work that is "previously published."
  9. After your work has been published on BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG, you may request to have it taken down (i.e. deleted) by sending a PM to the administrator. Even after a work is deleted from our site, it may remain accessible on the caches of search engines such as Google for some time. We are not responsible for these caches or for others' possible use of your material.
  10. Submission does NOT mean your work will be automatically accepted and listed on the BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG web site. BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG administrators have the sole authority to accept or reject any work.
  11. Spamming of this directory will not be tolerated. Submitting multiple copies, (2 or more), of the same work using different titles or with only slight modifications is not acceptable.
  12. Offensive content is cause for immediate account termination. Your work must not promote hate, racism, pornography, hacking, terrorism and other illegal and/or offensive activities. Adult language is acceptable if it matches the context, but gratuitous foul language will be edited out before posting. Our editor is the sole judge of the suitability of the language.
  13. Do NOT include pop-up links, images or Java Script in your submission.

Web Site Active/Inactive Links/Anchors/URLs

  1. Do NOT include download links in your submission. No direct links to any type of digital download are allowed.
  2. BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG does not accept works that have the same ACTIVE link more than once. Do not submit duplicate identical URLs.
  3. BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG does not knowingly allow any URLs that are banned by Google to be included in any of our published texts. If your web site engages in questionable SEO practices, BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG may reject your work(s).
  4. BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG does not auto-format URLs that are in the BODY of your text.
  5. BANNED LINKS: BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG will not accept texts with links to adult-oriented web sites, including but not limited to web sites that include nudity, pornography, adult-oriented shopping sites, adult-oriented sexual content, or any other potentially offensive or illegal content promoting hate, racism, hacking, bomb building, terrorism or any other illegal and/or offensive activities.
  6. EMAIL 'MAILTO:' LINKS: We highly recommend including a link to your web site in the Resource Box and in your forum signature/profile, but we do not advocate including a mailto: or email link to your personal or work email account. Spammers will abuse it. Better to just include a web site URL and let potential customers find your email address on your web site.

Guidelines for Formatting Your Texts for BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG

  1. No Author or Web site Name or URL is allowed in the Title.
  2. No HTML tags are allowed in the Title.
  3. Do not put a "period" or "full stop" at the end of the Title.

Add here a short description of your work that will be displayed in the listings. This teaser will be listed in our directory of published works. Please do not leave this field blank.

  1. There is no limit for word count, but if you are submitting novels and/or short stories with more than 10,000 words, we may paginate the text for easier reading.
  2. If you are submitting a novel, you may submit chapters individually and you may submit them over time as you complete them. We encourage you to use publication on BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG as motivation for you to complete your novel or longer work. We recognize that completion of a novel takes time, and we invite you to submit your novel, chapter by chapter, as you finish them, to see what your novel looks like in print and so that you may share the links with family, friends, agents, and critics.
  3. Please do NOT repeat the Title in the text body.
  4. Do not use manual line-breaks. Allow the text of a prose piece to wrap. Only press the "Enter" (or "Return") key between paragraphs; press it twice to create a blank line between paragraphs. For poetry, press "Enter" between each line, and press it twice to create a blank line between stanzas.
  5. Use your word processor to add font formatting effects (e.g. italics or bold, or to change font size) and paragraph formatting (e.g. indents at the first line, centering). Do not use html coding or phpBB codes. .DOC format is preferred, but .RTF or .TXT is also acceptable. Please do not submit in .PDF or .DOCX file formats.
  6. Use paragraph returns at the end of paragraphs rather than manual line breaks. (Yes, we said this above, but it bears repeating; this is the most common error people make when submitting.)
  7. Use Times New Roman or Courier font.
  8. Although our members are from different cultures and nationalities and claim a variety of languages as their native language, we ask that you please submit works in English only. If you feel compelled to submit a work in any language other than English, please also provide two translations, one literal and one figurative. We reserve the right to reject any work without explanation.

The following HTML tags are NOT allowed in the text body:

  1. Paragraph tag
  2. Break tag
  3. Font tag
  4. Header tag
  5. Horizontal rule tag

Please choose the best existing category or sub-category based on the type of your work. Flash fiction is usually under 1000 words, short stories are 1000-10,000 words, essays and creative non-fiction is up to 10,000 words, articles are up to 10,000 words, and novels are >10,000 words. These are general guidelines only. Our editors may re-categorize your work if we find that a category other than the one you have chosen is more appropriate.

BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG reserves the right to make changes/edits/additions to the above guidelines at any time without prior notice to our Member Authors.

BIBLIOPHILIA.ORG does not accept any responsibility or liability for the use or misuse of the work content on this site, by any other publisher or the reliance by any person on the content of any text.

Final notes:

We hope you’ll find our submitting process user-friendly and effective.
