	Gerry. - May 16, 2009 All a long time since now Harry. If you saw that film 'The Shining' the hotel was something like that--it was quite eerie. I have video of the hotel complex, it is still strange when we view it. Gerry.

Meeting a stranger from your own company who retired the same time as you has got to be as rare as drawing to an inside straight. Strange, the isolation and the maintenance of normality from the war around you.

Harry, I am not familiar with the activities of our simian friends--however I know that some animals practise deception apart from the human kind, indeed dogs are well known to be quite adept at deception with other dogs. Only humans however lie through their teeth, a trait we could well do without. Just wishful thinking Harry---I have these dozy thoughts from time to time ;-)

I read somewhere the unsettling fact that Chimpanzees, (surely their elevated status deserves capitalization) lie their heads off. They steal food and hide it, then they help others look for it keeping its actual location a secret from them. They go back to it, have a snack, after which, they join the others in the search. I would suspect that if we knew as much about the animal world as we do about our own, we'd find that lying, subterfuge and chicanery are built into all living things.

We are probably better at it than most other species however.

I know that one of my own errors was to publish too many titles too quickly, so that - as in a supermarket - when spoilt for choice the prospective purchaser often chooses not to buy. That said, my readership like my waistline steadily expands but in no definable manner. All power to your planned approach. Good luck!
	Marta Stephens - January 15, 2008 Sam, sales are happening at a steady pace; both my publisher and I are happy with the results. Unfortunately because of the variation in the way booksellers around the world report sales, no one, not even the publisher will have an exact figure until the book is out of print and all sales are reported. Places like Amazon may report quarterly sales in a timely manner, however, bookseller "A" in Kentucky may have ordered a box of book four months ago and may not report sales until they're all sold a few months later. Although sales is a goal, it's not something that is easily controlled and will drive an author crazy to do so. As a new author, my focus has been to introduce myself and my work to readers—create name recognition and a following for the series. If I’m successful, sales will happen. Thanks so much for reading my article and for your question.

This is the first in a set of six articles based on the things I learned during my first year as a published author. The articles will outline a few of the things authors should consider in order to gain an Internet presence. I have a background in public relations and several years experience in project management and promotions in higher education. My experience has been in the area of campaign development, press releases, advertisement, graphic design, and event planning. Marketing my book took me into unknown territory, but being one who loves a challenge and is something of a risk taker, I embraced the opportunity. But even I had to admit that as my debut novel SILENCED CRY was about to be released in April 2007, I was a bit apprehensive. My hope is that in sharing my experiences with you, you’ll find some useful solutions to your marketing questions.
